Dear TV gods, why do you hate me? Why did you allow ABC to renew contracts with Marc Cherry and the whole “Desperate Housewives” cast for another four seasons? Why do you plague and torture me? The show used to be watchable, but now its just painful.

The only good news about the contracts (which could keep the show on air till May 2011) is that this doesn’t mean the show is renewed for four years. It simple means that IF the show is renewed the cast and Cherry will be back.

Cherry said he has no plans to develop projects beyond “Housewives,” though if he does it’ll be for ABC. The plan is to creatively close up the show around the time his deal ends.

“I think that, at the end of my deal, and after seven seasons, it will be a good time to call it quits. I don’t want anyone else to run the show, and I don’t want us to fade away” he says.
