Here are some things I learned/pondered while away, but first a quick reminder: I’m in class all day Monday so blog will be quiet, BUT 2 of my 3 major projects are due Monday so soon my schedule will be free! Ok so the things I learned:

  • I didn’t know that the Empire State Building changes color(lights) every night.
  • Peeing on a moving train (and getting it in the toilet), sounds simple, but it’s nearly impossible to do.

  • Why is New Jersey called “The Garden State” when it’s brown? The only green I saw were weeds near the train tracks.
  • Why are nurses always HOT in movies and TV shows but in real life they are always old?
  • The Marvel offices are only a few blocks away from the Empire State Building.
  • Even at 25, I still enjoy playing “Pretty Pretty Princess.”
  • It’s awesome that you can’t smoke in bars or restaurants in New York, but it sucks cause every smoker in the city then stands out side on the sidewalk smoking. So you still can’t escape it!
  • In movies or TV shows, when people joke about homeless peeing in the subway… yeah. That really happens.

  • People are nuts! The dude above was fully hanging out the window to clean it without a harness or anything (16 floors up)!
  • Going from NYC to London isn’t too hard if you’re a good swimmer (see step 24).
  • The “Black & White cookie” from Seinfeld is really just cake with icing.

How did you like NYC? Did you get to do anything fun at all? I spent 3 weeks there when I was a stock broker - and I guess I wasn’t too far from the Marvel offices. My hotel was right across the street from “The Garden” (Madison Square Garden, that is).

I’ve been doing a trip to NYC about once a year for like ten years. So between going with Sarah or Samantha I’ve done just about every cliché’ tourist thing. Then we’ve done weird stuff too. I’m at the point where I need to start hunting down smaller or less known places within all the different sections of the city. Also I’ve only done Manhattan so it would be interesting to check out the Bronx, Brooklyn, and such. The only real things on my “to do” list are SNL which is impossible to get tickets to and “The Daily Show.”

So this trip I really tried to spend time with my family and it was nice to do more “chill” stuff with them, (like going to the park or just hanging out) then doing crazy stuff.

Have you seen the new part of Ellis Island they just opened? Last time I was there they just had the Statue and one Ellis building open, but I heard they just restored and opened another big part.

Go check out the house where they film the Sopranos!
