52 Days of 52: Week 5

This is the first issue to really only focus on one storyline. I’m mean sure you have a single panel-appearances of Booster Gold and Renee Montoya shows up for like 3 pages, but everything else in this issue is about the heroes who were in space at the end of “Infinite Crisis.”

We learned that the heroes were hit with a shockwave and to escape it they tried to teleport. The teleportation killed some of them while it merged the majority of the group. So now some heroes are literally stuck together.

As a result, Steel is called to help fix the situation. He’s wearing his Steel costume and at one point, when trying to save a patients life, he uses some sort of lightning-like power. I’m guessing this is a new power her gained from exploding in the last issue. Though I’m not sure what the power is or what it does. I’m not sure if he just shoots lightning. I’m not sure if he can just control machines or what. But I’m guessing we’ll just find out in a later issue.

Right as Steel finally manages to save his patient, the patient sits up on the operating table and yells “52!” Obviously this is a reference to the name of the series, but other than that I’m not sure what it is. Is it 52 people? 52 worlds? A warning and a countdown? I dunno.

Then, still tied to the space-storyline, we learn that Adam Strange, Starfire, and Animal Man are trapped on a paradise world. On the world the sun has been setting for three weeks and Animal Man warns the others that once night comes they will be in a lot of danger.
