“Powerless” the Heroes Season 2 Finale

Last night’s episode “Powerless” was the final episode in the “Generations” arc (which should the WGA strike continue it will also be the season 2 finale). I personally found the episode “meh” and will be talking specifics after the break…

This whole season has been off. It’s the traditional sophomore slump for a show that was a hit during its first year. From the pacing to the characters… nothing has been on par, so its no surprise that last nights episode was without anything big shockers. The ONLY good thing… the only moment where i was like “F* yeah!” was the last three minutes when Sylar got his powers back.  Everything else pretty much sucked.

If you remember last may, the biggest complaint about the season one finale was that the fight with Sylar and Peter was seriously watered down. Everyone wanted a big bad-ass brawl and it was anything but. So you’d think that the show would have learned from its mistakes… but it didn’t. The Hiro vs Peter fight should have been epic, but it wasn’t.

The deaths. So the Mexican girl was killed and resurrected. Nikki’s death was left in question and Nathan was gunned down by people working for his mother. …but did anyone shed any tears for these characters? I’m sure people were taking shots and celebrating Nikki’s death and they will only be disappointed when its revealed she’s alive.

What was up with Elle and Sylar? She saw him and absolutely freaked out. The two characters haven’t had any interaction in the past… what’s up with her desperately wanting to kill him? If anything, you’d think she’s the one character that could understand and relate to Sylar since she’s just as crazy as him.

The whole storyline, if you can even call it a “storyline,” with Clair and her family served no purpose. The Company convinces Noah to stop Clair from announcing to the public that people have powers and she just agrees like its no big deal. The whole thing could have been cut from the episode to allow some of the other storylines to get more screen time.

Speaking of pointless storylines… the whole Micha and Nikki trying to save Mica’s cousin from the gang member… really? This is the situation that we’ve building  up to all season for these characters? Micha uses his techno-magic ability to track the girl with a cell phone? Meanwhile the gang guy is beyond stereotypical that even poorly written comic book villains come off better than he did.

Other questions I have:
How have Matt and Hiro never met before?
What happened to the annoying Irish girl that Peter left in the future? Is she dead?
Adam is definitely Nathan and Peter’s father, but why didn’t they reveal it?

What should have happened:
When Mia was shot by Sylar and died…  the plague within her should have slipped out and that should have been the  cause of the future-virus. Then season three could have been about them trying to prevent and cure the virus. With that darker tone it would have been perfect for the “villains” storyline that they are now planning.
