Marvel announced this morning that “The Avengers” will hit the big screen in July 2011 as will “Captain America” in May 2011. Other previously announced films still in the works include “Punisher: War Zone” (Dec. 2008), “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (May 2009), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2010), and Ant-Man (2010).

So from this we can conclude that “The Avengers” movie will consist of the cast defined in the first four issues of the series: Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, and Wasp. It should be interesting to see if Hulk, Sub-Mariner, or Loki end up as the main villain of the movie.
