Shatner’s Ego Grows

Filed under: Celebrities, TV — Scott King at 6:48 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2008

This cracked me up.
William Shatner apparently watched some old “Star Trek” episodes and decided that his portrayal of Captain Kirk was quite good:

“I haven’t seen myself playing Captain Kirk in a long, long time,” he says. “And I watched it now, from my perspective of 40 years later, and I thought, ‘You know, that’s rather good.’ It’s a starship captain trying to do the accent, the Noo Yawk accent, trying to play tough, trying to be one of the guys. It’s not quite right, but it’s what a starship captain would have done — a decent imitation, enough to fool those guys but not the audience.”

3D Jessica Rabbit

The un-toon guy took a stab at Jessica Rabbit. Personally, I don’t find this even half as interesting as his take on Mario and Homer Simpson.

Slutty Miley Cyrus

Don’t forget to see Colbert!

Filed under: Celebrities, D.C. — Scott King at 10:26 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2008

The portrait of Stephen Colbert will only be on display at the National Portrait Gallery till April 1st. So if you want to see it make sure you get there in the next two weeks. I went to see it on a weekday and even though I was only there for about ten minutes there were four other groups of people there just to see the painting.

Below are some random pics I took at the Natural History Museum the same day I checked out Colbert’s painting. (Read on …)

“Hills” Star Gets Naked

Filed under: Celebrities, TV — Scott King at 9:54 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Nude photos of “Hills” star Audrina have hit the web. In an interview with TMZ she had this to say:

I took these photos years ago when I was just out of high school and beginning to model. I was young and very trusting of others and I didn’t know to protect myself. It is a lesson learned, for myself, and hopefully for the young girls who look up to me.

Johnny Knoxville OUCH!

Filed under: Celebrities, TV — Scott King at 12:50 am on Saturday, February 23, 2008

Did you hear the one about Johnny Knoxville almost losing his testicles? No really its true. He just posted about it on the “Jackass” website:

Just got back from Oklahoma where I was shooting Mat Hoffman’s tribute to Evel Knievel. Had a ball, too, even though I almost lost my own balls in the process. Don’t want to give too much away because the tribute airs Feb 23rd on MTV, but let’s just say before letting Travis Pastrana teach me how to do a backflip on a motorcycle I should have had him teach me to ride one first. Heh-heh…bad for me, good for our viewing audience at home. Have to go now. Have to empty the piss bag on my leg that I have to wear for the next two weeks until my torn urethra heals. Ouch, and see you on the 23rd. By the way, lots of great stuff in the Evel Knievel tribute besides my trip to the hospital—lots!

Super-Super Tuesday

Filed under: Celebrities, Comics, News News, TV — Scott King at 12:13 pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Everyone and their mother is talking about super Tuesday. Politics, issues, blah blah blah… since I’m not really an issues type of guy this had me wondering, “hmmm I wonder what TV shows or comics the candidates would consider their favorite.” That thought led me to compile the list below. Answers with links in them are actual answers, the ones without links are my guestimation on what the candidate would say.

Hilary Clinton

  • Favorite Sitcom: “30 Rock” because she relates to the very corporate/power-hungry Jack Donaghy
  • Favorite Drama: “Big Love” because it’s just like her life.
  • Favorite Comic: “Spider-Man: One More Day” because she vicariously lived through it while reading it.
  • Favorite Super Hero: Scarlet Witch because of her ability to re-write continuity and to reshape reality is the power Hilary truly covets.
  • Favorite Late Night Host: David Letterman because he makes less fun of her pant suits than anyone else. (Read on …)

Sam Troughton is Bam Margera’s British Double

Filed under: Celebrities, TV — Scott King at 11:53 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2008

I’ve run out of TV shows to watch on DVD because either I’ve seen them on DVD or I watched them when they originally aired (the only exception are procedural dramas and anything before ’92). So I’ve been forced to fill my Netflix queue with Degrassi as well as a ton of BBC shows.

Over the weekend I was watching the first season of “Robin Hood” and I was shocked because one of the main characters played by Sam Troughton looks like the British version of “Jackass’” Bam Margera. I mean they don’t look like twins but they could definitely pass as brothers or cousins.

Miley Cyrus Changes Name

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 10:19 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Miley Cyrus who dons the “Hannah Montana” personality in the show of the same name has legally changed her name. The 15 year old changed her legal name from “Destiny Hope Cyrus” to “Miley Ray Cyrus.” The “Miley” nickname apparently came from her father when growing up because she was so “smiley” as a child. I think someone needs to point out to the Cyrus family that there is an “s” in “smiley.”

Steve Carell on Jury Duty

Filed under: Celebrities, The Office — Scott King at 12:04 am on Friday, January 25, 2008

“The Office” is on hiatus because of the strike, but that isn’t stopping Steve Carell from being productive. Starting today, he’s doing jury duty where he’s being paid $15 a day to listen to an employment dispute case where both sides are non-English speaking Koreans. This soooo makes me want to watch an episode of “The Office” where Michael Scott gets jury duty.

Razzie Nominees

Filed under: Celebrities, Movies — Scott King at 11:33 am on Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Forget the Oscars. Lets talk Razzies! Below is the very oddly formatted press release announcing this year’s razzie nominees:

Topping the field with 9 nominations is I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, a Lindsay Lohan “vehicle” that proved as dangerous for its star as any car she ever ran off the road. An oddball cross-breeding of the HOSTEL/SAW genre of “teen torture porn” with elements of the old PATTY DUKE SHOW, I KNOW stars Lohan as psychically connected twins. KILLED ME copped nominations as 2007’s Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Director and Worst Screen Couple (Lohan appearing opposite herself). (Read on …)

Rachel Bilson on GQ

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 1:57 pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2008

The very attractive Rachel Bilson is on the cover of GQ, but what I find facinating is that in the issue it says that her bikini cost $135, her bottom cost $90, and her heels cost $885. That’s a CRAPLOAD of money. Why on earth do people pay so much for clothing?

“High School Musical 3: Senior Year” Signs Cast

Disney has finished its deals and will reunite all the key cast members for the feature film release “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” reports the trades.  Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman are locked to return in the big screen incarnation.

Written by returning scribe Peter Barsocchini, “HSM3″ revolves around seniors Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) facing the prospect of being separated from one another as they head off in different directions to college.

Katherine Heigl Blew Award Nominations

Filed under: Celebrities, Movies — Scott King at 12:01 am on Thursday, January 10, 2008

For a couple weeks now I’ve been hearing that Katherine Heigl was up for a Golden Globe or Academy Award nomination for “Knocked Up” but that once she talked trash about her own movie, she was removed from consideration. I thought this was all rumor or gossip until TV Guide hinted about it.

Try to guess the newly minted movie starlet whose scathing remarks about her own character in a very popular recent film probably just cost her a nomination for a major award. How’s that? Get this: The ballots for the prize were dropped in the mail around the same time the publication containing her rant hit newsstands. And from what I hear, voters figured, if she wasn’t going to support what she did, why should they?

Serves her right for bad talking “Knocked Up” and for being a nasty smoker.

Baby Bump Equals Ratings Bump

More than 7 million people tuned into “Goodbye Zoey,” the hour-long season finale of “Zoey 101.” That’s more than double the number of viewers the show usually has. How sad is it that MILLIONS watched the show just to see the now sperminated Jamie Lynn Spears.

Trump Hates on Angelina Jolie

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 12:01 am on Thursday, January 10, 2008

Donald Trump was on Conan O’Brien promoting “Celebrity Apprentice” and his newest book. The funny thing about the book is that Conan read the following quote:

I find it surprising that people consider Angelina Jolie beautiful.

When asked further about it, Trump told Conan:

Its why they have menu’s in restaurants. Everyone has their taste. Everyone likes different things. I think she is a pretty woman, but I don’t think she is a great beauty by any leap of the imagination.

Wow. Never thought I’d EVER EVER agree with Donad Trump on something. Man Jolie is ugly.

Lying for “Hannah Montana”

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 12:04 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2008

You heard about this already, right? A mom and her six year old lied, saying that her husband/father was killed in Iraq, so that the pair could win tickets to Hannah Montana.

The saga began Friday with company officials surprising the girl at a Club Libby Lu at a mall in suburban Garland, northeast of Dallas. The girl won a makeover that included a blonde Hannah Montana wig, as well as the grand prize: airfare for four to Albany, New York, and four tickets to the sold-out Hannah Montana concert on January 9. The mother had told company officials that the girl’s father died April 17 in a roadside bombing in Iraq, company spokeswoman Robyn Caulfield said.

“We did the essay and that’s what we did to win,” Priscilla Ceballos, the mother, said in an interview with Dallas TV station KDFW. “We did whatever we could do to win.”

Borat is Dead!

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 10:44 pm on Friday, December 21, 2007

Sacha Cohen announced today that he will no longer appear as Borat or Ali G.

“When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing. It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I `get’ with Borat again, so it’s a kind of self-defeating form, really.”

Either this is some master scheme (remember “Punk’d” saying it was canceled but then coming back for like three more seasons?) or the characters really are dead.

“Don Vito” No More

Filed under: Celebrities — Scott King at 10:41 pm on Friday, December 21, 2007

Don Vito was court ordered to not appear as “Don Vito” for ten years and is receiving a life probation after being convicted as a child sex assault charges. He must also receive mental health evaluations and undergo drug/alcohol treatment. The 51-year-old Margera was convicted on two counts of sexual assault on a child, after he groped three girls, ages 12 to 14 at an autograph signing in a Colorado skate park.

This really doesn’t surprise me since he was a major creep when I interviewed him for Ocean City Today.

I get it. She’s 16 and she’s pregnant. I get that places like Perez or US Weekly would be going crazy over this. But this does NOT need to be the lead story at CNN! Not only that, but the CNN article isn’t even an article. It’s just reader reactions!

27 Reasons Not to see “27 Dresses”

Filed under: Celebrities, Movies — Scott King at 8:42 am on Monday, December 17, 2007

Ok fine I really only have three reason.

  • 1) Katherine Heigl is a yucky yucky smoker and is seriously setting a bad example for all her teenage fans.
  • 2) Katherine Heigl told Vainty Affair that “Knocked Up” was an extremely sexists and offensive movie. Which doesn’t make sense because if she was so offended by the script, why the heck did she agree to star in the film?
  • 3) After Katherin Heigl whored out “Knocked Up” the film’s writer and director, Judd Apatow, was nice about it! He told GQ “I’ve done a lot of interviews, and when you’re promoting a movie, you talk for hours and hours and hours, and so it’s very easy for something to be taken out of context. I’m just happy people are talking about Knocked Up six months after it came out.”

NBC Threatens to fire Talk Show Staff

Filed under: Celebrities, TV, WGA Strike — Scott King at 10:50 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2007

NBC is playing dirty. First they fired the production staff of “The Office.” Now they are telling the non-writing staff of “The Tonight Show” and “Late Night” that they will be fired next Friday if Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien don’t return to work.

“I talk to Jay every day, and he will not be the first [late-night host] to cross the picket line,” said Tonight Show head writer Joe Medeiros, also a strike captain for the Writers Guild of America. “So the producers are looking at guest hosts as one possibility so all those people don’t have to lose their jobs.”

Of course it won’t be easy to find real celebrities that willing to cross the picket lines for a guest host gig, specially not after the drama that has befallen Ellen.
