I know “Bring Your Daughter To Work Day” was back in April, but Edit had to come with me to work yesterday for a good seven hours. Without any warning I found out that the windows in my apartment were being replaced (which took all freaking day). Since I didn’t want to leave her home in an apartment with strange workmen and no windows, I took her to campus with me. She actually had a blast, though it got annoying when I was trying to do stuff in Final Cut Pro and she kept laying down between me and the keyboard.

Edit (my cat) has figured out how to turn on the TV using the remote (though she has no clue as to how to change the channel). So now when I leave the apartment I always put the TV on Animal Planet before turning it off. As a result Edit has discovered Meerkat Manor and she LOVES the show. She either watches it mesmerized by the Whisker Family or she gets crazy hyper and runs around the apartment trying to play with them.

Now to be honest I’ve only watched the show in five or ten minute interviews. From what I’ve seen its “ok” and it is narrated decently by Sean Austin. So although I can’t personally recommend it, I can say that Edit fully endorses the show.

Awww my baby-girl is one year and four weeks old today. However it was a year ago today that I first got her!

It’s a rainy spring day and I’m stuck on campus instead of getting to chill in bed like Edit.

It’s Monday so I’m stuck on campus all day, but here is a pic of Edit impersonating the cowardly lion when he says “Put ‘em up. Put ‘em up!”

It’s Friday so I’m on campus all day. But here is an adorable picture of Edit from back when she had to wear the post-surgery-cone.

Got a whole THREE hours of sleep last night. Edit still isn’t doing well and I’m finding it hard to do anything else but take care of her. I never realized taking a pet to get fixed was so traumatic for them. Even when I try to get work done she cries and tries to get me to hold her. I’m hoping to go to class today but if she’s still doing bad I don’t want to leave her alone.

The pic above is her last week (pre-surgery) getting her head stuck in my printer. I had to rip the top of the printer off to get her out (it’s ok cause it was already broken, only the scanner worked).

It’s Friday, but I’m not on campus. Instead I’m taking care of Edit who got spayed yesterday. I picked her up from the animal hospital about two hours ago and ever since she’s wanted me to hold her nonstop. Overall she seems ok, except that she 100 percent despises the cone that she has to wear. Updated On Sat @ 9:29am: She was a mess last night and I got less than an hour of sleep. She kept crying and would only stop when I held her. Then when I tried to sleep she kept bumping me in the face with the cone because she still wanted me to hold her. I really hope things aren’t like this for the next 10-14 days.

It’s Friday, which means I’m on campus all day, so here’s your weekly dose of Edit. Her newest thing is that she’s figured out how to open the fridge. Whenever she gets hot (normally after playing) she’ll open the fridge and lay down in it. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to keep her from opening it, but so far the only idea I’ve come up with is duck tape.

It’s Friday so I’m on campus all day. But here is your weekly dose of Edit. It’s been freezing lately (though we’ve not gotten any snow) and so now when Edit naps she likes to be tucked-in.

It’s Friday which means I’m on campus all day. So as usual, here is your weekly does of Edit. This is her back in December being mesmerized by her first snow. It actually snowed yesterday and just like a month ago she spent the WHOLE day staring out the window. At one point I even opened one of the smaller windows and she went nuts trying to catch the snowflakes before they melted.

It’s Friday so here is your weekly dose of Edit. This pic was taken like two weeks ago. I was playing “Halo” and stopped to go take a shower. When I got back, Edit was passed-out in my spot on the couch. The weird thing was that even though she was sleeping, her eyes were open.

It’s Friday and I’m on campus so here is your weekly dose of Edit. Because of her super jumping abilities, she figured out how to jump ontop of my bookshelves. She likes to go up there when I’m writing and is always peeking down at me (as you can see in the second pic).

It’s Friday so I’m on campus again all day. As a result… here is your weekly dose of Edit.  Right before I took the pics above I started to freak out because I couldn’t find Edit anywhere. I was terrified. I was calling her (which normally makes her come right me) but she wasn’t responding. Finally I heard a meek meow and went in the kitchen to see her yawning wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up there!

It’s Friday, which means I’m stuck on campus all day. So here is your weekly dose of Edit. The pic was taken in my shower. When she wants me to give her a bath (because she LOVES water) she’ll jump up on the soap dish and meow until I turn the water on.

Awww look at Edit! There were just a few drops of water at the bottom of my cup and since she LOVES water she squeezed all the way into it just to get it.

Since Lisa and Craig LOVE my “Weekly Dose of Edit” pics, I thought I’d share this bonus one.

Edit’s favorite game in the whole world is fetch. She loves it when I take the mouse-ball and launch it across the room. She then chases after it, pounces it, and brings it back. So the first two pics above are Edit the first day I got her way back in June. Even then she loved the toy! Then the second two pics are her today, bringing the toy back to me (it’s a really hard picture to take because my camera is crappy and I can’t adjust shutter speeds).

Since I’m on campus all day I thought I’d give you you’re weekly dose of Edit. I was going to use the bowl in the picture for carving a pumpkin but as soon as I got it out of the cabinet, she got in it and wouldn’t get out. She played for about 30 minutes sliding all round until she finally fell asleep.

One thing about my little girl is that she’s a sweetheart. When we play she doesn’t use her claws because she knows it hurts me. She’ll use them sometimes when playing with other people, but with me she’s very careful not to hurt me.

So today we were playing fetch (her favorite game) and instead of throwing her toy across the room like normal I threw it straight up in the air. I was trying to tease her. Of course the trick was on me because she jumped straight in the air and caught it. The only problem was that I was underneath it and when she came down she landed on my face by accident. I’ve had tons and tons of car-drama in the past month. Basically you can’t park anywhere within a 5 mile radius of my house unless you have a special kind of permit from DC. If you are a student you have to jump through a whole bunch of hoops and have like 10 odd documents. After a month of trying to acquire the documents, there is only one more I need. So tomorrow I’m going to the MVA (Maryland) to get that final document and then I’m going to the DMV (Washington, DC) to get my parking permit. The whole thing could turn into a day-long event so there may be no posting tomorrow, so to hold you over here is a precious picture of Edit.
Updated@4:42p.m. I left my place at 6:55a.m. and I just got home. I’m beat and there will soooo not be any updates today, sorry. P.S. the DMV and MVA suck donkey balls. That’s right. Donkey BALLS.

The San Diego Comic-Con kicks off tomorrow. As a result it means ALL of the blog-worthy news of the week will be coming from California and since I’m in Maryland and every BIG news-sites is covering the event live, I’ve decided to put my blog on hold until after SDCC.

Also, my script for “DAD!” has to be finished by the end of the month so it can be passed onto artists and letterers. So I’ll be spending the rest of the week busting butt to get it done! (I really will be doing nothing but work… Samantha and Sarah are going to be out of town and everyone else I’ll just blow off).
