"Heroes" spurs lawsuit
Remember the scene in the first episode of “Heroes” where the cheerleader sticks her hand down a garbage disposal? Well Emerson (a garbage disposer company) is suing NBC saying that the scene makes their disposers look bad.I’m not joking.
Emerson filed the lawsuit in a St. Louis federal court yesterday, seeking to block rebroadcasts of the "Heroes" pilot.
The suit says that the show “casts the disposer in an unsavory light, irreparably tarnishing the product" by suggesting that serious injuries will result "in the event consumers were to accidentally insert their hand into one."
So what does Emerson think would happen if someone were to shove their hand down a garbage disposal drain? They think it would be fine and dandy? Have they never seen any of the billion of horror movies where similar things happen? What the heck is their problem?
Ok ok ok… this is American. People sue for stupid reasons just so they can become rich. ONLY Emerson isn’t suing NBC for money. All they want is the pilot episode to not be re-aired online or one any TV station. "It's a trademark thing," spokesman Dan Callahan tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
