Sci-Fi sits on rights for "Earthsea"
“Tales From Earthsea,” the first film directed by Hayao Miyazaki’s son, may not get U.S. distribution until 2009. The reason for this is that animated film is based off the Earthsea novels and Sci-Fi channel owns the rights to those books in the U.S. There’s more here.
