ABC doesn’t like them pretty, it’s ordered a full 22 episodes of “Ugly Betty,” and god help this country because I seriously have no idea why anyone watches the show. My problem with it is that its like an ABC Family movie in terms of cheese-factor and depth and don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my cheesy ABC Family movies every once in a while, but I don’t want to watch one every week. Every episode of “Ugly Betty” is the same. Betty is an outcast. She gets made fun of/picked on. She does something to prove herself. She ends up saving the day. …but by the next episode she’s an outcast again and the whole damn cycle repeats. On CBS “Jericho” got picked up for a full season. The show saw a spike in ratings this week, most likely thanks to Kim Jong II since it’s about a small Kansas town surviving after nuclear bombs are dropped on the rest of the country.
Also on Wednesday nights, “Lost” has seen a drop in ratings. The show was already down 20 percent from its premier last year and saw another 10 percent drop this week. It still got a 10.2/15 rating, but was beat out by CBS’s “Criminal Mind,” which is VERY scary. The numbers aren’t low enough for ABC to cancel “Lost” but it’s not a good sign.
Meanwhile, additional scripts were ordered for NBC’s “Kidnapped,” “Friday Night Lights” and Fox’s “Standoff,” while “Medium” was giving a Nov. 15 premier date for its third season. This is a show I discovered on DVD and I’m excited to watch it on air.
