Sci-Fi sits on rights for "Earthsea"

“Tales From Earthsea,” the first film directed by Hayao Miyazaki’s son, may not get U.S. distribution until 2009. The reason for this is that animated film is based off the Earthsea novels and Sci-Fi channel owns the rights to those books in the U.S. There’s more here.

Fantastic Wedding

Someone posted a buttload of “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” photos on flickr. See them here. These are all from the Reed Richards and Sue Storm wedding which gets crashed by the silver surfer.

Unbelievable Click

I’m watching “Click,” Adam Sandler’s movie that just came out on DVD. It’s not a “bad” movie per say but I’m having a major problem with the plot. You see his whole character arch is about him not having enough time for his family and always putting work first.
The problem is that he is married to Kate Beckinsale. She’s number two on my list for hottest celebrities EVER. I don’t understand how a straight man could be married to her and put his work first.
There is a scene where she is standing in her underwear and he is too busy trying to get other stuff done that he doesn’t even notice. …There is literally no guy that would be able to do that in real life.

300 Trialer

The trailer for “300” has been posted here. The movie is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel and tells the story of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.
I'm not sure how I feel about the movie. The color and effects seem to be very stylized. Sometimes that works in movies. I mean look how beautiful "Sin City," so it does work. But I'm worried that this will come off fake or extra cheesey looking.

"Ghost Rider" trailer

The “Ghost Rider” trailer has been posted online here. I know nothing about Ghost Rider so I can’t give a frame-by-frame break down in an attempt to guess the plot, but I can say that this is a movie I don’t mind waiting for DVD to see.

Miyazaki's new film

One quick post as I run out the door...
Variety announces that Hayao Miyazaki has begun working on a new film. The animated feature from Studio Ghibli will be released in 2008. No details about the film, including title, have been anounced.
Miyazaki is known for movies such as "Howl's Moving Castle" "Spirited Away" "Princess Mononoke" "Castle in the Sky" "and other classic animated films. He's also holds the record for highest box office gross in Japan. Last summer's "Howl's" only did $170 million, but in 2001 "Spirited Away" raked up $258 million.

"X-men 3: The Last Stand" DVD

I got “X-men 3: The Last Stand” from Blockbuster so I could check out the three Alternate Endings. I was so disappointed in the decisions they made in the film that I was hoping a major alternate ending would make me feel better.
Well dammit now I feel even more disappointed.
The first ending is 40 seconds and is exactly the same as the original ending, only Beast makes a joke about needing larger classrooms for all the new students at the school.
The second ending is 44 seconds long and shows Rouge returning from the clinic where they were healing mutants. This time she didn’t use the “cure” to get rid of her powers. Although it was a such a short scene it’s the version that should have been in the original film. I mean to have the “real” version as her losing her powers goes against what it means to be an X-man.  The X-men are there to show that its ok to be different. They are about accepting yourself for who you are and it just seems wrong that in this third film they had a major character go against that.
The third ending was 1 minute 4 seconds and has Wolverine at the bar he was in the first film. The bar tenders says “I remember you” and then gets him a drink. The bar tenders also asks “Where are you headed, home?” and Logan says “Yes.”  I’m guessing this was supposed to be a tease for the Wolverine-spin-off, but if it was there was no teasing at all. It was really lame.
Making the DVD more pathetic was the fact that there were no other special features. There were no featurettes or behind the scenes stuff. There were a few east eggs, but they weren't funny or cool.

Downey as Iron Man

downey.jpeg
Jon Favreau, director of the new “Iron Man” movie, posted the following on his MySpace blog:
“It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humor and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready.”
So come February, Downey, the well known drug addict, but amazing actor, will portray Tony Stark, Marvel’s well known alcoholic. Between that and Tony Stark being a total dick, the roll shouldn’t be a stretch for Downey.

Wizard Film Festival

WWFFLogo_full.jpg
Wizard (the magazine publisher and convention coordinators) is launching a new film festival that they plan to make an annual event. The actual competition will happen at Wizard World Texas and winners will be screened at Wizard World Lost Angeles.
There are four categories; dramas 5 minutes and under, comedies 5 minutes and under, dramas 60 minutes and under, and comedies 60 minutes or under.
I’m 96.7 percent sure I’m going to submit “Hundred Dollar Bill” into the 5 minute drama category. I just need to talk to Kevin and I’m waiting to hear back on an email I sent Wizard.
There aren’t any crazy prizes or anything for this festival. Actually there is only one prize. The best of the four finalists will receive a “Best in Fest” award at Wizard World Texas. Then next spring at Wizard World Los Angeles, the winner gets an 8ft table for free at the show (One of the questions I emailed was if Wizard World pays for transportation and lodging in L.A.).

The Last Kiss

Sarah and I saw “The Last Kiss” last night. We were really excited because the two of us LOVED “Garden State” and “Scrubs.” The movie was ok, but doesn’t hold up to either of the above titles. I think part of the problem is that Sarah and I misunderstood what it was going to be about.
We thought the story was a love triangle between he incredibly hot Rachel Bilson, Zach Braff and Real World’s Jacinda. …It was, but the supporting cast had huge rolls to the point that the movie was more of an assemble piece than anything else. So we just weren’t expecting the love triangle storyline to be so small compared to the storylines of the rest of the actors.
When I asked Sarah what she thought of the movie she said, “It was ok. It’s one of those movies that you enjoy
the drama while your watching it but afterwards it doesn’t really linger or stick with you.”
The thing Sarah disliked the most was Rachel Bilson’s character. Of course I was so distracted by her hotness I sort of didn’t really pay attention to the character at all. Though it did seem to be TOO much like Summer from “The O.C.”
What really saves the film is the quirky humorous moments that are spread throughout it and… god I can’t believe I’m going to say this… Jacinda’s acting ability. I was honestly surprised to see that the girl can act. I had no idea. I was just like “yeah she’s done a few movies but she’s really just a Real-World-er.” Boy was I wrong. She’s does a killer job in “The Last Kiss.”

"Sub Mariner" Movie Has a Director

namor.jpg
I don’t know why I’ve not read this anywhere else yet, but The Hollywood Reporter is saying that a director has been signed onto the “Sub Mariner” movie. Jonathan Mostow, of “Terminator 3” will be helming the live action film staring Namor. Universal Pictures is the studio behind the film while Kevin Misher is producing for Marvel Studios.
I’m sort of surprised that this is being made. I would have thought that a more marketable way to do the movie would be to have Namor in the third “Fantastic Four” movie and then follow that up with a Namor spinoff.
So far no cast or details have been announced about the plot of the “Sub Mariner” movie.

Rachel Bilson Linked to Wonder Woman, again

bestchris04.jpeg
Everything goes full circle in Hollywood.  Rachel Bilson, Summer on “The O.C.,” is said to have snagged the roll in Joss Whedon’s “Wonder Woman” movie. Of course, she was one of the first actresses linked to the roll when the movie was first announced forever ago. So its kinda funny that the word on the street is once again saying she will play the part.
I know nay-sayers said months ago that she can’t be Wonder Woman because she’s too short.  I say “so what!” Bilson is number two on my Top 5 picks for hottest celebrities. That alone makes her worthy enough for the role.
Of course I can’t say something like that without sharing the complete list:
           1) Rachel McAdams
           2) Rachel Bilson
           3) Kate Beckinsale
           4) Kirsten Bell
           5) Katherine Heigl

Itune Movies

Apple is expected to announce today the opening of the iTunes Movie Store. I first mentioned this here, so its not too much of a surprise.
The surprise is that Apple thinks they can make a bundle of money by charging $14.99 for each movie downloaded to an Ipod. It’s one thing to watch a short TV show that you paid $2 for on a small screen, but the mass community does not want to watch a full feature on something so small. Look at the horrible sales of the PSP movies.
Supposedly, Disney and Lionsgate Films are the first two companies that signed a movie deal with Apple and others are going to be announced at a press conference today at 10 a.m. PT.

Rumors are also swirling that Steve Jobs will display a new wide-screen video Ipod, but even with it, people aren’t going to want to pay $14.99 for a movie they can’t also watch on their TVs.

Back in Black

 ASM539_cov_100.jpg
It was announced yesterday that Spider-Man will be returning to his black costume. Spidey Editor Axel Alonso & Joe Q. wants everyone to believe that the motivation for this wasn’t really to match up the comics with “Spider-Man 3.”  Alonso tells CBR:

“For the most cynical fans out there who'll say Marvel wants Spider-Man in the black costume because of the movie, they're only 10% right. The beauty is we knew 16 months ago as we were planning out the thrust of "Civil War" and beyond, how all of this laid out beautifully for us to move into the future. So, the thing is the timing is perfect. We understand the motivations behind the change. The same as when we were planning "Civil War" and people would guess that maybe Cap would be the pro-registration guy and some complained that he would be, but then they saw how it was rendered and why he was motivated to do what he did. That's what's driving us right now. Character motivations and how they react to what's going on around them.”

That’s all crap. The motivation was that they wanted to link the comics to the movie. The change of costume isn’t story driven.
Look at the other announcement that came yesterday involving Spider-Man:   “Spider-Man Family” which will feature a 22 page main story set somewhere in Spider-Man’s past with a short back up story.
In an interview with Newsarma, the writer, Sean McKeever says that upcoming story lines involve the black suit, sandman, and venom. Since I’m a fan of McKeever’s and a regular at his site I asked if the higher-ups told him to incorporate those story points or if they were solely his idea. He said they he was given him.
It’s not that I don’t understand why Marvel is trying to link up the comics with the new movie. It makes sense to draw in new readers. But Alonso & Joe Q. should just be honest about it instead of trying to play it off as “Ohhhh nooooo we wanted to do this all along. It’s just dumb luck that it works out this way."

The Hobbit

MGM greenlit “The Hobbit” for a full feature, according to Variety. The trade magazine is saying that the movie will be budgeted at $150 to $200 and will possibly be broken into two parts. The studio also wants Peter.
New Line is who produced "The Lord of the Rings," but its MGM that owns the rights to "The Hobbit." So it will be interesting to see how MGM handles the projects.
Aint It Cool News spoke to Peter Jackson about it and reports:

“He did say that he woke up this morning to see that MGM says he's making THE HOBBIT with them, which was strange. He said that as unbelievable as it may be, he's never once talked to any studio, be it New Line or MGM, about doing THE HOBBIT. So, as of today Jackson has not talked to anybody about doing the movie, but he did say he'd like to do it, even though his schedule gets more crowded every passing week. So, if MGM wants to do this thing it might be a good idea to see if Jackson is up for it, no?"

Movies Aren't Dead

theather.JPG 1     The summer movie season, which ran from May 1st till Labor Day Weekend, is over. Here in the U.S. the total gross was $3.85 billion. Overall there was a 3.1 percent increase in movie attendance.
The reason this is big news is because last summer there was a HUGE drop in attendance and sales. The 2005 gross dropped 8.5 percent from 2004, while attendance was down 11.4 percent.
So comparing this year to 2004 we have only seen a drop of 2 to 3 percent which is awesome. Analyst everywhere were saying “oh this is the end of movies” “the dvd market it taking away from the box office gross” and blah blah blah.
My take on it is that the home theater market is taking away form the box office gross, but when people have reason to go see a movie in the theater they will go see it. It’s like going to the theater has become more of an “event.” You only go to see the big hyped up movies  or a movie that you’re really hyped up about.
Look at “Pirates of the Caribbean,” it is seventh film ever to pass $400 million domestically. Then “Cars” “X-Men” “The Da Vinci Code” and “Superman Returns” all passed the $200 million mark.   So people go see movies in the theater, but only the big ones.
Man, I’m already starting to get ready for next summer: “Spider-Man 3” alone should boost the 2007 domestic gross.

Spider-Man 3 Test Screening?

spidey3blog.jpg
“Spider-Man 3” just went back for reshoots. Rumors have been flying all over the blog sphere saying that the reason for reshoots was because of a bad audience test screening.

Well the official “Spider-Man 3” blog says that’s not the reason:

"As you may know, a story surfaced on Monday saying that there was an audience test screening of “Spider-Man 3.” There have been a lot of questions circulating due to this piece and I just wanted to take a moment and clarify that there has not been a test screening of this picture. The article that IMDB.com referenced from an Irish Times story was simply not true. We wrapped less than two months ago and we have eight months of work ahead of us. We still have a long way to go and a lot of VFX shots to complete before this movie is fit to screen for anybody."

Megatron Design Work

The internet is buzzing. The photo above is supposedly what Megatron will look like in next summer’s “Transformers” movie. It looks like some insect bug thing. It’s hideous. It looks nothing like the “real” Megatron, which you can see below.

Kevin Smith’s Horror

Kevin Smith said in an interview with “Moviehole” in Australia that he would like his next project to be a horror movie.
“Next up I want to do a horror movie,” Smith said. “I just think it would be kinda interesting – for me at least – to go left. I’ve made seven comedies, or variation thereof, and some people would argue that none of them are funny. But it would be nice to make a horror movie. An intentional horror movie, not like Jersey Girl. [much laughter]. It’s a genre that I grew up watching on VHS and on cable when I was a kid”, said Smith.
    Here is the full interview:
Filmmaker Kevin Smith touched down in Australia this week to promote the bejesus out of his comedy “Clerks 2”. Moviehole’s Mark Bennett - an out and out horror buff – was so keen to find out about Smith’s upcoming horror film (announced it a couple of weeks back), that he decided to tie him to a chair, and threatened to play his scenes from “Vulgar” on loop, if he didn’t give up the goods.
“Next up I want to do a horror movie. I just think it would be kinda interesting – for me at least – to go left.
“No jokes and stuff, not like Scary Movie 4. There are people that do that really well, like Edgar Wright with Shaun of the Dead, but I don’t want to make a comedic one, I want to make a straight-forward horror movie.
“It’ll be a bit of slasher, but I’m kinda looking more at … you remember that movie Race With The Devil? It’s more kind of in that vein. Or Wicker Man. Something in that vein where it’s creepy and unsettling more than gore.
"Smith says some of his favourite horror movies include “The Shining, Halloween. I’ll pretty much for anything that I came of age watching. You know, the ’70s-’80s slasher genre. The current crop of horror movies not nearly as much. There seems to be a lot of remakes and whatnot. A lot of “Let’s do Texas Chainsaw. Again. And let’s do The Hills Have Eyes again.” I’m sure there’s probably ripe material out there. A lot of things are more horrible than a dude in a mask trying to stab you. [inaudible – something like, You can look it up in the newspaper and pull it out of there]. So I’m kinda going for that. The one thing I’m happy about is the idea that I have, I haven’t seen it done before.”

Snakes In a Theater

snakesonplane1.jpg
“Snakes on a Plane” got a real life spin-off when during a screening of the movie in Arizona two snakes were released into a movie theater. They were two very poisonous diamondback rattle snakes. God, people are stupid.
Here is the full article about it:

(Phoenix) - A prank at an Arizona theater was anything but a laughing matter. Someone released two poisonous snakes in a theater that was showing the new movie, "Snakes on a Plane."
Authorities said pranksters released the young venomous rattlesnakes in a dark theater at the AMC Desert Ridge near Tatum and Loop 101 in Phoenix.
Snake wrangler Tom Whiting was called to one theater twice in one day to collect the diamondback rattlesnakes. He says all a moviegoer would have to do is startle a snake in the dark and it will attack.
"It was in the theater, and that to me that's very scary," says Whiting. "I'd hate to be in a movie about snakes and have a rattlesnake bite me."
No one was bit during the incident.
This thing is under someone's chair and they go to sit and they just push your foot in the air and startle it -- obviously all they got to do is startle this thing," Phoenix Herpetological Society spokesman Daniel Marchand said. "It's dark. They can't see you, you know that well. If it's scared, boom it strikes."
The snakes were released into the desert.

Talladega Nights Review

talladeganights.jpg      Sarah was VERY appreciative for me fixing her computer (see previous post). As a result she made me dinner and took me out to a movie! For dinner we had steamed cabbage, roasted red peppers stuffed with black and mahogany rice, and this really good tofu-loaf(meatless meatloaf). We then went to go see “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.”
OH MY GOD. It was horrible. Well it wasn’t horrible. It just wasn’t good. Both of us were really excited to see the movie. We’ve been talking about it for weeks. It has gotten good reviews and even “Rotten Tomatoes” had its percentage as 72 percent positive.
I’m a humorous guy. I also love movies from all genres. Two of my favorite movies from last year were “Wedding Crashers” and “40 Year Old Virgin.”  I also enjoyed “Old School” and “Anchorman,” though they weren’t as good.
So I went into “Talladega Nights” expecting the same kind of humor and movie that was on par, maybe that was mine and Sarah’s mistake.
There were moments in the movie that made us laugh. Stupid one liners like “Don’t snort the Lucky Charms” or “I can’t think cause there is a pretzel inside my head.” But instead of the dry humor from most of Will Ferrell’s films, the movie had stupid humor that you’d expect from a Rob Schneider film.
Adding to the problems, was the fact that none of the characters were relatable or that likeable. Both things could have been forgiving if the movie was funny, but the hardest we laughed was during the credits when they had bloopers.
Making the situation worse was the fact that the movie was beyond predictable. Within ten minutes Sarah and I had figured out the entire structure and major plot points of the film. Again, this could have been forgiven if the movie was funny, but it wasn’t.    THEN of course there are plot holes. A lot of the stuff just doesn’t add up or make sense. It’s like plot, story, and depth were given up so that brainless “Deuce Bigalo” fans (white trash nascar freaks and pot heads) could enjoy the movie.
I was very disapointed with it and have been lately with all of Ferrell's movies: "Kicking and Screaming" and "Bewitch." We should have waited to see this on DVD.

Did Samuel L. Jackson call you?

snakeonplanephone.jpg

I am a dork, but we all know that. I’ve spent my morning sending phone calls from Samuel L. Jackson to people. I’m serious. As promotion for “Snakes on a Plane” you can go to their website, fill out some info and then a pre-recorded phone call will be made to whomever you want from Jackson.

The first one I sent was to Samantha. It was cool because Jackson says her name and I made it so that the message applies to her. He told her she needs to stop sucking up to her boss at her new job, stop going out drinking, and go see his new movie.

     Hahahaha isn’t that great?

I See Washed Up Child Star

osment.jpg     A child star isn’t truly a child star until they have a run in with the law. It seems Haley Joel Osment has finally become a true child star now that he is facing up to six months in jail on charges of driving drunk and possessing marijuana.

Osment was in a car crash on July 20th and broke his rib. A blood alcohol test revealed his levels were .16 which is twice the legal limit. Oh yeah... he's only 18.

I wonder if Dakota Fanning will be the next true child star. Anyway, here’s the full story from the AP wire:

    Liquids on a Plane

liquids.on.plane.081006.jpg    To try and capitalize on the terroist plot that was foiled yesterday, 20th Century Fox has announced the sequal to Samuel Jackson's "Snakes on a Plane," which will be titled "Liquids on a Plane." Filming starts this fall with a release for next summer. ...(Yes, its a bad joke. I saw posted on E! Online... Or at least I hope it's a joke).
I'm unhooking my computer and finishing up packing. So the blog will be quiet till Sunday or Monday. Man I'm so excited to be living in D.C.

    Halo Has a Director

    halopic.jpg

Universal and 20th Century Fox have recruited a first-time feature director to oversee the sure-to-be-expensive big screen version of "Halo."

The studios have selected 26-year-old advertising and f/x savant Neill Blomkamp to direct "Halo," setting off a frenzy of online activity as fans of the bestselling Microsoft videogame rushed to sites like Google Video and YouTube.com to track down Blomkamp's collected works.

I’ll be honest. I’ve never heard of the guy. I’m also surprised that the movie studios would back such an unknown with such an expensive and fanboy project.

After doing a little research I figured out that I am familiar with a commercial that Blomkamp filmed. Does anyone remember the semi-recent commercial of a car driving on a frozen lake and it transforms into a giant robot? It was a Citroen ad and he directed it.

I guess this is promising in the sense that he is familiar with using fancy-looking special affects. But that doesn’t mean he can handle developing Master Chief’s character as a bad ass or handling the dramatic aspects of the movie.

A good sign is that Alex Garland, writer and director of “28 days later,” wrote the screenplay that Blomkamp will be filming. Though a part of me wonders why the studios didn’t have Garland direct. At least he has more credibility.

Principal photography for “Halo” will happen sometime next year with a release date of Summer 2008.

    Larry The Cable Guy

larrycableguys.jpg     I’m normally open minded with movies. Even when I watch a really bad I can normally learn something from it for find some sort of entertainment from it. BUT MY GOD “Larry The Cable Guy: Heath Inspector” is one of the worse movies I have ever seen in my life. And I don’t mean it’s such a bad movie that it actually becomes funny because of how bad it is. I simply mean it is BAD. I wanted to gouge my eyes out. It’s horrible. Stay away from it at all cost.

    Ultimate Avengers 2

ultimate_avengers2.jpg    So I finished watching “Ultimate Avengers 2” and it was 100 times better than the first one. But what I really enjoyed were the “spoofs” on the DVD special features. Basically they took clips from the first two movies and added in new dialogue spoken by the actors.
For example… Captain America is in a hibernation tank before they revive him. The dialogue they added in was Betty Ross saying “Take Captain Solo in the cargo hold and prepare for transport to Jabba the Hut.”
Another great one is Iron Man is surrounded by reporters. One of them ask if its true that he doesn’t wear pants under his iron suit. So he says “I thought we’ve been over this. Yes its true. I don’t wear pants. I chaff bad. I mean BAD. But you’ll have to excuse me. It’s all you can eat steaks at the house of ribs and the only thing I love more than not wearing pants is eating steaks.” Then for the rest of the spoofs “ribs’ becomes an ongoing joke with Iron Man.
Aww man I’m cracking up watching these. I’m going to see if I can post the video. If it works I’ll also add the “Doctor Strange” preview for the upcoming DVD.
    Update:
Ok to view these just right click, select “save target as,” and download them to wherever you want. They are 3gp files so you need to have the newest version of Quicktime to play them.
    Ultimate Avengers Spoof
    Doctor Strange Preview

    I'm Starfox?

starfoxsmall.jpg     I just got "Ultimate Avengers 2" from Netflix. I popped it into my computer to watch and a Marvel-Personality-test popped onto the screen. I took it and it told me I'm some guy called Starfox. The only Starfox I know about is the one from Nintendo games. So I'm not sure who this dude is.
I also find it weird his power is to manipulate the pleasure center in people's brains. Of course I know a few women who will admit that I can do the same thing. So maybe out of everyone in the Marvel Universe I am most like this guy. Well... actually does he have a big ego and is good at making bad jokes?

    Marvel Movies

    V for Free

vvendetta.jpg      Sarah and I get to rent “V is for Vendetta” for free! We stopped by blockbuster last night and were looking for something else entirely. We passed an empty rack and Sarah pointed to a sign. It said “if this movie is not in stock we will give you a free coupon.” Since Sarah is Sarah and never passes up anything for free she made sure we got a coupon.
I’ve seen it and want to watch the extra-dvd-stuff, but it will be cool watching it with Sarah again because it will be her first time seeing it.
Man I'm getting super excited to live with her. Just the whole concept of living with one of your best friends seems awsome. Plus she totally takes care of me and spoils me!

    Hellboy 2

thumb_hellboy.jpg   Variety just has all the news lately. They just reported that Universal Pictures has greenlit "Hellboy 2."  Revolution Studios produced the first "Hellboy" but went out of buisness and "Hellboy 2" has been without a home, ever since. It wasn't Hellboy's fault. The movie cost $66 million and grossed $100. It also ranked in a lot on DVD sales.
The main cast is already signed for the second so expect to see everyone back. Guillermo del Toro wrote the script and is going ot direct. Filming will start next april with a release date of Summer 2008. This time around, the movie will focus more on fantasy-style magic and myth as opposed to hell and demons.

    Rob Schneider vs. Mel Gibson

robschnerd.jpg     I really don't do Hollywood gossip unless it is spoiler related so I've stayed away from the whole drunk-Mel-Gibson calling a cop a, "fucking jew"-thing.  UNTIL NOW!
Rob Schneider took out a full page in Variety saying, "I, Rob Schneider, a 1/2 Jew, pledge from this day forward to never work with Mel Gibson, actor-director-producer and anti-Semite. Even if Mr. Gibson offered me the lead role in Passion of the Christ 2, I, like Bernie Brillstein, would have to say 'NO!'."
The ad was in letter form and signed by Schneider. The joke behind the letter is that there was no chance Schneider was ever going to work with Mel Gibson... EVER. And he knew that. He was just trying to be funny, and he was.
Too bad his movies still suck.

    Die Hard 4

    brucewillis.jpg

It was announced that next summer we will see the release of “Die Hard 4” which is going to be called “Live Free or Die Hard.” Now I’ll be honest. I’m not a huge Bruce Willis fan, but the male in me is kinda excited to see John McClane back in action.

What I think is a bad marketing move is that 20th Centruy Fox gave it a release date of June 29, 2007. Yep. That’s the same day “Transformers” come out. So I think it’s save to assume McClane is going to get his ass handed to him by Optimus Prime and Megatron.

    Brokeback Gotham

It is official: Heath Ledger has in fact been signed on to play the Joker in the next Batman movie. Rumors have been circulating for weeks that this was the case. Personally, I feel he can pull it of. Over the past few years Ledger has proven his acting abilities. I also trust Christopher Nolan. I mean this is the guy who did "Memento." If he says Ledger is right for the part then I believe him.

    Aquaman the Movie

209610AquamanPosmd.jpg       A real “Aquaman” movie? It was reported in Variety that “Entourage” may have inspired Hollywood to make an actual “Aquaman” movie.

On the show, Vincent’ Chase recently stared in the movie which fictionally broke records that “Pirates of the Caribbean 2” did in real life. In the past Aquaman (the character) has always been seen as a joke in Hollywood but buzz around “Entourage” has made it a hot property.

Even odder is the force behind a real “Aquaman” movie is Ari Emmanuel, which the character Ari Gold (played by Jermey Piven) is bassed on. According to Variety, “The talent agent at the center of the informal Aquaman talks is the real life Ari Gold which could very well result in a real Aquaman movie.”

    Venom

This is the first look of Venom from "Spider-Man 3." This image was revealed at Comic-Con this past week. I know its super hard to tell, but that's Topher Grace playing Eddie Brock in the scene where he becomes Venom for the first time! My god I'm excited to see this movie. Smile

    2X

I got asked the other day how I’m able to watch so much television and so many movies. There is one main way I’m able to do it. I fast forward a whole lot!
With TV shows I fast-forward through commercials and that alone turns an hour program into only 44 minutes. Then I fast-forward through action scenes or slow montages where they just play music in the background. So normally an hour show takes me 30 to 40 minutes to watch at most.
Movies are different. My lap top lets me control how fast I’m fast-forwarding when I watch a DVD. So I can watch it two times as fast, 16 times, or even 32 times the regular speed.
The odd thing is that when I watch it at “2x” it still places sounds so I can hear them. They are just realllllllyyyyyy fast. For some reason I have no problem understanding people talk when they talk twice as fast.
So lately what I’ve been doing is watching “Deadwood,” which I’m getting from Netflix, and watching the whole thing at “2x” speed. This means I’m finishing a whole show or whole movie in half the time.
So THAT’S how I can watch so many movies and so many TV shows!
