Last Sunday we went crabbing in Ocean City and caught 19 crabs! After feasting like kings, we picked the rest of the uneaten crabs and ended up with a pound of left over meat, which became scrumptious crab cakes.
I shot this photo in front of my softbox with reflectors. Its the third time I’ve tried to photograph crab cakes in the past six months and it’s definitely a step up but still not a money shot. Crab cakes are just really hard to photograph. Partially because of the weird shape and also the texture can look unappetizing if the lighting isn’t just right.
For this one i think the biggest problem is that it looks too dry. Next time instead of platting it with sides I think I may try to make a homemade tarter sauce and see how that looks.
