Last week we were in New Orleans and since we aren’t bar-types we visited lots of stuff outside of The French Quarter. One of the coolest things we saw was Lafayette Cemetery!
The cemetery was built in the early 1800’s and is still active today. It’s also the most filmed-in cemetery in New Orleans. Shows and movies shot there include Interview with a Vampire, The Originals, Double Jeopardy, the music video for New Kids on the Block’s “Right Stuff,” and a bunch of other stuff.
The texture of the graves, the colors of the different stones and the overall vibe of the place was amazing. It’s an utter maze to walk through and although creepy there was a certain amount of beauty at the same time. If you are ever in New Orleans I highly suggest visiting Lafayette Cemetery No. 1.
