Trap Pond in Laurel, Delaware!

trapondsmall
This is Trap Pond in Delaware. It’s the supposedly the northern most forest/swamp in the United States that’s primarily bald cypresses. Bald cypresses are a weird bunch of trees because they are coniferous, like pine trees, and they even have their version of pine cones. However once fall hits, all of their needles shed like regular deciduous trees, leaving them bald.

Trap Pond is beautiful and a great place to visit if you are ever in lower Delaware. Plus as long as you load up on bug spray with deet, it has an awesome 4.5 mile loop that is perfect for hiking and biking.
